The Gagosien Shop is looking for a thoughtful and professional individual to join our shop team in a part-time capacity.

Our ideal candidate demonstrates an ability to work closely with members of the shop team, associates and directors of the gallery, and the guests we welcome on a daily basis. The days in question are Mondays and Saturdays, from 11:00am–7:00pm, in perpetuity. Additional hours will be offered to cover staff absences, busy calendar moments, and events.  The ability to commit to the two days in question in a reliable fashion is a must for this position.

This role reports to the Shop Manager and provides an opportunity to support shop operations on days that are crucial to the gallery and the fine art industry at-large. We seek high levels of communication and project management skills for this position as well.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to
– Facilitating the delivery and retrieval of inventory from warehouse on a weekly basis
– Assisting in the unpacking/packing and labeling of incoming and outgoing books and merchandise
– Maintaining  merchandising, cleanliness, and safety standards in front and back of house
– Handling operational tasks  as instructed by the Shop Manager or in consultation with the Shop Operations Coordinator
– Engaging with the public in a pleasant and helpful demeanor
– Communicating the arrival of high-profile artist and clientele in-shop
– Attending to shop inquiries via phone calls and emails
– Delivering goods and orders to local clientele and associates of the gallery when needed
– Handling all aspects of daily sales; cash, credit card transactions
– Covering shifts for full-time staff when needed and some late nights for special events and openings will be necessary 

Requirements
– Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and occasionally climb ladders
–  Must be willing to work some late nights for special events, VIP visits and openings will be necessary
– Some Art Handling experience preferred

Compensation
$22 per hour
