Gagosien seeks a full-time Image Archivist to join its New York City team. 

Reporting to the Digital Archive and Program Manager, the Image Archivist will be part of a global team responsible for stewarding digital image files for a wide-range of gallery uses. The ideal candidate will have the ability to multitask, work both independently and collaboratively, with superb communication and organization skills, and an eye for detail. The Image Archivist will oversee rights and reproduction responsibilities for New York and contribute to the digital asset management system.

Duties include but are not limited to
– Fielding and facilitating incoming press requests; liaising with internal artist liaisons and external rights agencies.
– Clearing images for press for upcoming exhibitions and art fairs.
– Adhering to reproduction guidelines and advising others on proper use.
– Ingesting new assets into the gallery’s digital asset management system; assigning known metadata.
– Supporting department staff as needed by creating to-scale digital art mock-ups, exhibition model chips, and poster facsimiles in Photoshop; coordinating photography; managing gallery owner’s private collection.
– Contributing to ongoing metadata cleanup projects.
– Submitting invoices and maintaining expense reports.
– Making and monitoring the Imaging Department supply orders.
– Ad hoc projects as assigned.

Requirements
– 1–3 years experience of relevant work.
– Prior knowledge and experience with copyright is a plus.
– Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Bridge.
– Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
– Background in Art History, preferred.
– Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects at once.
– Experience with digital asset management systems is a plus, but not required.
–Must be discrete and able to manage confidential material.

Position Type
Full-Time/Regular/Salaried position with overtime. Monday to Friday, onsite, with additional hours working gallery openings and events, as needed. Position is based between 980 Madison and Chelsea gallery locations.

Compensation
$50,000 - $55,000 annually
